Independent Source Magazine is an online publication that promotes and supports independent filmmakers and festivals from around the world. We cover indie films through interviews, articles, and reviews. We also boast tons of resources and tools to help filmmakers improve on their skills, find funding, distribution, crew and more. ISM also has film investors and distributors that follow all of the films covered in each issue!

IS Magazine is currently seeking submissions from independent filmmakers for coverage in the upcoming issues of our magazine. Filming Summer 2009

We are doing two films this summer. Here's some info on the first one.

During June we are going to film a business drama entitled "Boom Productions."

We are offering a select group of local actors the opportunity to be part of this project - ideally those in the area and who have some free evenings, and a weekend or two. It is sure to be interesting and rewarding.  Extensive acting experience is not required. It is totally voluntary - no pressure whatsoever.

In particular, we need a mix of 9 diverse students (4 of whom comprise the main entrepreneurship team).  Individual character ethnicities are flexible. The main team will be needed for 25-30 hours. The other five
students will be needed for approximately 6 hours. We will also need lots of extras on a couple of occasions.  The more, the better.

We will start shooting June 15 and finish by June 23. We will likely be casting right up to the start of the production.

We will be holding our next round of auditions the evening of Monday June 8 in Amherst (in our office at the Amherst Pepsi Center, 1615 Amherst Manor Drive, Amherst, NY 14221) starting at 6:30 pm. and running every 10 minutes. We're in the glassed in office/studio on the ground floor across from the vending machines.

Email us to set up a specific time between 6:30 and 9:00? Specify what time is best for you.

COSTUME DESIGNER/WARDROBE SUPERVISOR NEEDED

The Slime City Massacre Company needs a costume designer/wardrobe
supervisor for SLIME CITY MASSACRE, the feature length sequel to Greg
Lamberson's SLIME CITY, shooting in Buffalo this July. The costume
person will be responsible for designing outfits for 4 - 8 principal
characters, including those played by Debbie Rochon, Lee Perkins, and
Brooke Lewis. The ideal candidate has experience obtaining outfits as
product placement and knows how to stretch a dime. We need someone to
obtain the costumes, fit them, and wash them at the end of the day. We
do not need someone to be on set all day long, although you're welcome
to do so. Some scenes take place in a soup kitchen circa 1959, others
in a post holocaust future. We need duplicates for some outfits due to
special effects requirements. This is a non-paying position, meals,
transportation and screen credit only. The shoot runs from July 10th -

We are looking at doing another doco / comedy in the US in the near future, it will be both informative while still being fun to watch.
We're two Australian guys that go around and will do shows etc at events like the AVN Show or Sexpo we call it in Australia. While doing this we interview women about their sex lives and orgasms. Its done tastefully and respectfully as we run seminars in Australia teaching women, couples and men how to help women have better more fulfilling orgasms.
We may attempt to break our current world record too while in the US.
In Sydney in July 2008 we set the world record for women orgasming at one event in public, while fully clothed without being touched sexually or hypnotised, 189 over the four day sexpo event.

I am here to ask a question.

Along with some others, we have been considering building a website dedicated to the LOCAL WNY area talent available for filmmakers, be they local, regional and national, to use as a tool. This website, when complete, would provide information about you, your abilities, education, links to your individual website, headshots, resume, etc. as well as contact information. We feel that many people involved in filmmaking need services of others but often have difficulty finding them. The site would enable EVERYONE, from animators to editors, writers to actors, carpenters and set designers to special effects makers to list their services.

We feel current websites, such as those provided by the film commission, lacks categories to allow others to find the many types of persons needed to work on a film, as well as being exclusionary by not allowing individuals with established credits other than education and/or local film credits on their site. Hey, if you just paif $50,000 for an education and had the talent to work in this industry, wouldn't you want a break?!

If you believe this is something our community needs, and that people will participate, let me know. Email ChallengeFilms@aol.com and provide your name, address, phone number and email and no more than two categories you have creative abilities in (example: filmmaker, writer, actor, camera, lighting design, animator, film editor, producer, film budgets, FX makeup, production assistant, etc.).
